The Randburg Management District changing the area for better

CID (City Improvement Districts) are becoming increasingly popular all over South Africa for various reasons. There have been many successful operations all over the country, which have beared fruit and enabled communities to become safer and more liveable locations. This, in turn, has inspired a community which is active in combating various social ills, such as crime and urban decay. Randburg has becoming an area which has a city improvement district entitled the Randburg Management District.

“City Improvement Districts are geographic areas in which the majority of property owners determine and agree to fund supplementary and complementary services to those normally provided by the Local Authority in order to maintain and manage the public environment at a superior level and thus maintain or increase their investment”. -http://www.cidforum.co.za

In another article published in the Randburg Sun’s website states that millions of funds are being implemented into the Randburg area and other key localities around Johannesburg. This is making the region a key location for so many reasons and this is why there is an abundance of office parks and developments happening not just in the Randburg but all over the Gauteng province.

“With private investors on board and millions of rands being injected into Johannesburg’s inner city, it could well mean a complete turn-around for the neglected area.” - randburgsun.co.za

This is partly why there is so much interest in the Randburg area as leading commercial brokerage OfficePlace has 171 listed properties in the Randburg area. The company prides itself in providing great service and a wide variety of commercial properties. Some of the office parks are highly modern new developments and some are older established houses which have been converted into offices. This makes Randburg not only extensive but unique and the range of property on offer is numerous and diverse. Its an area which is more like its own mini-city and the fact that it's so close to so many prominent residential areas makes it highly favorable as well.  Some popular residential suburbs which make the region great for commercial reasons and employees include North Riding, Northgate, Strydompark, Blairgowrie, Cresta, Linden, Northcliff, and Fairland. Central improvement districts are initiatives that have become popular all over the entire Gauteng area and they have also had the involvement of echelons of society including high up officials and ward councilors who work within the jurisdiction of the Randburg area.

“On 15 March, Ward 102 councilor David Potter met with the Randburg City Improvement District (CID) team, which includes their cleaning and security team, to better understand the work they are doing in the improvement district. The area is kept clean and secure within their available budget and resources.”  - randburgsun.co.za. These kind of initiatives are also creating employment in certain urban areas where employment is often a grave concern, so this is, in turn, this has brought much-needed hope to the lives of everyday South Africans in a time when unemployment is a huge concern. Other areas which have adopted CID’s include Braamfontein, Illovo Boulevard, Kramerville, Legae La Rona, Rosebank and Sandton. There has been notable urban improvement around these locations which could be seen to have had various issues with crime and urban decay.
